BIG Easter Sunday
He is risen indeed. Alleluia!
What a glorious start to our service… the local bell-ringers were working industriously in the bell-tower as we arrived, providing an unmissable reminder to the Ashleworth village community that it was a very special day!
The church grounds had recently been mowed by our volunteer grasscutters, with the incessant rains adding a verdant lustre to the grass, while daffodils and other spring flowers held their heads aloft in the sunshine.
Within the church, the team of flower-arrangers had worked their magic, providing a range of delightful window displays lit by dappled sunlight, to add to the beauty.
Music for the service was provided by a team of performers, with piano, flute, guitar and violin considerably enhancing the enthusiastic singing of the congregation!
Our service told the familiar story of the crucifixion and resurrection with a series of Easter Voices; Mary, mother of Jesus, John – the disciple, Salome and the Roman guard who had stood outside the tomb. Each reading gave a unique perspective of the events that had taken place on Good Friday, right through to the discovery of the empty tomb on Sunday morning.
He is risen indeed. Alleluia!
